A Quick Visit to Andis

I hadn’t dropped into Andis in awhile (too long), so today was the day! It was a delight getting a quick tour from and visiting with my old friend, winemaker Mark Fowler (who used to boss me around in the cellar at Skinner). No winery in the Foothills has made the leaps in quality over the past few years that Andis has. Each wine has its own distinct style and message. It has become one of the few can’t-miss wineries in Amador County.

We bought a few things, but these are two of my favorites. The Cab Franc is one of my favorite versions in the Foothills, and the Semillon is wonderfully rich and deep. I’m going to set a few of these in the cellar for a few years and see what happens. Also… major heads up… we got a sneak taste of the yet-to-be-released Arinto, and it blew my socks off. Be on the lookout and be ready to grab some!
