INTERACTIVE WINERY GUIDE

Fair Play and Pleasant Valley

- Dry red wine

- Italian Varieties

Introduction

Italian style wines, particularly Zinfandel and Barbera, are typically the wines most associated with the Sierra Foothills. Italian immigrants brought these vines over in the 19th century, and many of those are still producing fruit. Amador County has become the leader in Zinfandel and Barbera, but there are excellent versions in El Dorado County, too, in addition to other Italian varieties.
