Nope, not Virginia. The country roads from this Shenandoah Valley are in Amador County in the Sierra Foothills.
Sierra Foothills Cab Franc can run the gamut from undrinkable, flabby, over-oaked swill to stunningly delightful nectar. This one definitely leans toward the latter, and the tiny bit of age shows some interesting character, especially in the nose. This Shenandoah Vineyards (not to be confused with a winery of the same name that actually IS in Virginia) is part of the Sobon Estate, originally the D’Agostini winery which dates back to the 19th century.
