Petite Sirah
The Petite Sirah grape, also known as Durif, is the man-made cross of Syrah and Peloursin. The wines made from the grape are exceptionally deeply colored, fully bodied, and coarsely tannic with dark fruit flavors. The wines can age for decades and can handle plenty of oak maturation. The grape is grown throughout California, but the Sierra Foothills is home to many of the best versions. The Fair Play sub-region is considered by many to make some of the best Petite Sirah wines on the planet.
